DAY FIVE
by Sister Christopher Jude, O.Carm.
I arrived early for the Papal Audience and found myself in a very long line. Did I mention the crowds are massive? Once through security, I found a seat near Saint Peter's statue. The weather was beautiful, cool and the square was filled to capacity. Pope Leo did a short ride around the square and everyone was excited. After all the speeches in different languages, Pope Leo spoke and welcomed all the people by country. At the end of the Audience, Pope Leo greeted everyone in special seating including newlyweds. The Popemobile was parked waiting to bring Pope Leo through the Vatican gate and I had a chance to take a picture of it. I left the area and headed back to Saint Albert's. I am finding my way around better, which is a big help. The Vigil was scheduled for 7:00 pm in Saint Peter's Basilica. I arrived and somehow got through security with little effort only to be back in a massive line. The Vigil was lovely and the music was beautiful. Pictures are of the day. The statue is located in the square and it is of refugees fleeing to a better life.
