“We want our homes to not be better, but the best.”Ven. Mary Angeline Teresa
When established in 1929, The Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm was the first American Community of religious women founded solely to care for the aged.
Our particular spirituality of action and contemplation in the service of the elderly was born in the life and charism of Mother Angeline Teresa whose inspired words of “clasping the hand of an older person in the autumn of life” “to be kinder than kindness itself” and many others inspired many Sisters to give of the same love and care to our elderly. Called to the healing ministry, we combine our spiritual life of prayer and community to meet the challenges of ministry in its present reality and vision of our Foundress, Venerable Mary Angeline Teresa McCrory, O.Carm.
Today, the Carmelite Sisters follow the example and vision of their Foundress as they minister to Christ in the person of the elderly. Her charism and values are instilled in our staff members and Boards of Directors.
This same philosophy of care is integrated into all facets of resident care in all the homes they are called to minister.
