How did we hear His voice and answer His call? Read some of our Sisters vocation stories. Perhaps you will hear a story that speaks to you.
I grew up in Middletown, New York and am blessed to have two wonderful parents and the best little brother a person can ask for.
I have been a Carmelite Sister for the Aged and Infirm for 61 years. At the age of 18 years of age I entered the Congregation at St. Patrick’s Home in the Bronx, New York on September 8, 1963. I was born in Washington DC and raised In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I am presently stationed in West Palm Beach, Florida. I am a Nurse and have worked in different capacities through these many years with the Residents and I remain committed to both the care of the Residents and to my Carmelite Vocation of Prayer.
At the age of 13, I made a decision that would forever impact my life: I became a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Manor, the home for the elderly in my hometown of Trumbull, Connecticut. As a Carmelite volunteer for the next six years, I developed a portion of each Saturday to caring for the home’s residents. Serving meals, bathing the infirm, working in the Fireside Lounge and performing other duties, I found my true calling. I wanted to devote my life to assisting others.
I was born into a Catholic family. My parents taught me to love God and others. As a young girl, I liked to lead a simple and prayerful life.
When one begins to think of their own calling to religious life, often there are many memories that surface. However, the one thread that is often heard in the telling is the influence or impact of a Religious Sister on their life.
The Lord leads the dance and has many surprises for those who follow!
