R.I.P Sister Kevin Patricia of St. Joseph O'Brien, O.Carm.

Back to Events

Sister M. Kevin Patricia of St. Joseph O’Brien passed away peacefully at Ozanam Hall Nursing Home in the 71st year of her religious life.  Sr. M. Timothy Anne and Sr. M. Helena of St. Joseph were at her bedside when the Lord called Sr. Kevin to himself.

Janet Ann O’Brien was born on April 19, 1938, in New York City, the first of two children born to James J. and Dorothy (nee McAuliffe) O’Brien, who were also native New Yorkers. Her brother, James, pre-deceased her. Sr. Kevin is survived by her nephews, Kevin, William (Billy), and Jimmy, and the members of her step-family. Having entered the Congregation on September 7, 1955, Sr. Kevin received the habit on March 17, 1956, professed First Vows on April 22, 1957, and professed Perpetual Vows on December 9, 1961.

Trained as a Licensed Practical Nurse, Sr. Kevin held positions as Unit Supervisor, Health Services Supervisor, and Assistant Administrator. Her most recent Missions included Villa Teresa, Harrisburg, PA (1979 - 1999); Little Flower Manor, Wilkes-Barre, PA, where she was the Director of St. Therese Residence (1999-2001); and Mary Manning Walsh Home (2001-2016). In 2016 Sr. Kevin was transferred to Ozanam Hall where she was content during her final years.  Sr. Kevin enjoyed going out to eat, was especially fond of cocker spaniels, and, of course, had a special love for “the old people.” During her final illness she spent much of her time praying for the Community she loved. We trust that Sr. M. Kevin Patricia of St. Joseph will continue to pray for our Community from heaven!
